About me

Per Emanuelsson is the Founder and Creative Director of Humans since 1982, a Swedish pioneering studio famous for the creation of statement-making, technology-driven artworks and timepieces in limited editions. The studio's provocative sculptures and experiential installations are driven by a shared curiosity and desire to make sense of the world. With a diverse and complex practice that traverses art, design and technology, their work defies easy categorisation.

The growing interdisciplinary team comprises international specialists including programmers, designers and technicians who collaborate to take Humans since 1982 projects from concept to realisation.

Per established Humans since 1982 in 2009 by Bastian Bischoff, whom Per met when they were postgraduate students at HDK Göteborg. Based in Stockholm, Sweden, their studio is co-owned with engineer David Cox (b. 1983, Australia).

Humans since 1982 work is showcased worldwide at leading galleries, fairs and institutions including: Somerset House (UK), National Museum of China (CN), Saatchi Gallery (UK), Art Wuzhen (CN), Art Miami (US), Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum (US), Phillips de Pury & Company (US), San Francisco Museum of Art & Design (US), Design Miami/Basel (CH).
